Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Marblehead awarded the Anna E. Kelly Scholarship to 16 students involved in youth ministry.
The students were honored at the 9 a.m. family liturgy on June 1 for four years of Christian service. Service activities have included lector, altar server, religious education teacher’s aide, cantor, choir member and volunteering at My Brother’s Table and the Marblehead Interfaith.
Star of the Sea is celebrating 155 years as a Catholic parish this year, and many other social and spiritual activities will take place to commemorate the anniversary.
There are 900 students in grades 1-11 in the parish’s religious education programs. Rev. Michael Steele and Mary Pagliarulo, religious education director, praised the scholarship winners for their consistent and visible commitment to be Christian witnesses.
