The University of Birmingham is delighted to be one of the UK institutions selected to particUniversity of Birminghamipate in the Science without Borders Scheme. Information on the scheme and the programmes offered at the University through this scheme are provided below.

What is Science without Borders: The Brazilian government is providing funding for both Undergraduate and PhD Students in certain subject areas to spend 12 months in the UK as part of their degree at a Brazilian university. Students will spend 9 months studying in the UK followed by a 3 month laboratory placement. There is also funding for Brazilian students to undertake an entire PhD in the UK.

Entry Criteria and how to Apply

For Undergraduates: Students must have completed at least one year of a university Degree Programme in a relevant subject. Students must also meet English language requirements: IELTS 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any band), TOEFL 82 (no less than 19 in Reading, 19 in Listening, 21 in Speaking, 19 in Writing).

For PhD Students: Students should hold a Magister degree or equivalent. Students must also meet English language requirements: IELTS 6.0 (no less than 6.0 in any band), TOEFL 93 (no less than 22 in Reading, 21 in Listening, 23 in Speaking, 21 in Writing). Students wishing to study medicine or dentistry must have: IELTS 7.0 (no less than 7.0 in any band), TOEFL 100 (no less than 25 in any band).
