PhD Researcher: The Research Center for Operations Management is involved in high-level research on supply chain management, new product development, production and inventory management, project planning and healthcare planning. The aim is to publish in international scientific journals on research topics inspired by real-life decision problems.
Project: We are looking for a full-time PhD Researcher (m/f) for scientific research on the topic ‘Quantitative Supply Chain Modeling and Design’ where an integrated and multi-dimensional approach will be followed to study the supply chain design problem. This research should lead to a PhD-degree.
The research will be conducted under a research grant from the GSK Vaccines Research Chair on Operations Management, under guidance of Prof. Nico Vandaele and in close relationship with a senior researcher and industrial experts.
You are also expected to participate in seminars and conferences, and to enroll in the PhD Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business. The candidates can be asked to give guidance to students (e.g., by supervising their master’s thesis in the area) and to supervise exams.

Profile: Candidates should have a strong interest in modeling operations management/supply chain systems and preferably hold a Master’s degree in Applied Economics, Econometrics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Civil Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
An average degree of distinction during preliminary studies is required as well as an appropriate command of written and spoken English.
Experience with at least one programming language is an asset.
Students in their last year are especially encouraged to apply.
Offer: We offer an employment as full-time doctoral scholar starting on 1 October 2013 for 1 year, renewable till max. 4 years after positive evaluation.
