52 NYSC President’s Honours Awardees Get Post Graduate Scholarship
Recipients of the 2011 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) President’s Honours Awards have won scholarship for post graduate studies in the UK.
At a farewell ceremony for the 52 awardees, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa’i, the Minster of Education, said this was a proof of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the education of its citizens.
“Government has gone beyond just providing the enabling environment for studies, but has taken education to another level by ensuring Nigerians studied anywhere to the highest level,” she said.

While pledging government’s support to the beneficiaries, the minister advised them to keep up the diligence for which they were chosen and to give the country the good image it deserved.
Also speaking, Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of State for Education, charged the scholars to be worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.
“This is an opportunity that many were looking for, but here you are, lucky to be given such.
“See it as a call to serve; it is indeed an enormous task ahead of you, so put in your best and do your country proud,” Wike stated.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Oladipupo Akinwunmi expressed gratitude for the opportunity given them to further their studies.
Akinwunmi said the scholars would ensure that they were not found wanting and pledged not to engage themselves in acts capable of tainting the image of the country.
He said their goal would be to excel in their various fields and come back to the country to contribute their quota to its development.
