50 Katsina Students To Study Medicine Abroad

The Katsina State government yesterday said it would sponsor 50 students to study medicine abroad this year under its foreign scholarship programme. Dr Garba Matazu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Higher Education, stated this when the director and other management staff of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Katsina Study Centre, called on him.

Matazu said that already under the programme, more than 200 students of the state were currently studying for various degree courses abroad. He said that processes of the sponsorship documents for the 50 students were on and that they were expected leave before the end of the year.

Matazu, who thanked the team for the visit, gave the assurance that the state government would continue to support the centre toward addressing its problems. Earlier, Dr Kabir Galadanchi, Director of NOUN Katsina Study Centre, said the visit was to express appreciation over the support being rendered to the centre by the state government.
