The Governor of Kaduna State, Mr. Patrick Yakowa, has released the sum of N179.9 for the payment of the 2010/2011 scholarship to 15,159 indigenes of the state studying in various tertiary institutions across the country.
The sum has been released to the state Ministry of Education for disbursement to deserving students from the states in higher institutions all over Nigeria.
Yakowa in a statement on Sunday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Reuben Buhari, urged the beneficiaries of the scholarship award to redouble their efforts in their studies in order to justify government’s huge spending in the education sector.
The governor also appealed to the students to eschew dabbling in all anti-social behaviours that could derail their academic pursuits and jeopardise their future.
He further charged them to be good ambassadors of Kaduna State in their various institutions of learning.
Yakowa advised parents and guardians to closely monitor the performance and the activities of their children and wards in the school and ensure that they do not indulge in criminal activities.
